The Husband's New Kicks

The husband has been really spoiled lately. First, he got new Carhartt coveralls. Now, he has new kicks. Work boots don't last too long around here. These are the boots he was wearing.

Amazingly, they're less than 6 months old.

So when his new Tony Lama 3R Work Boots came in, he couldn't wait to get them on....literally. Here are a few things he did over the weekend in his new boots...

The husband and my dad framed out our raised garden beds

The steel toe is a great safety feature when he's pulling motors

Or axles
Sometimes, his shoes are the only thing I see

And he really liked them at work

So what's the verdict?

The husband says "I love them. They're comfortable and they keep my feet warm and dry." He also likes the ankle support they provide. These boots also come with removable inserts with gel pads on his pressure points. After working 8 hours fabricating steel, then coming home to several more hours working on cars, comfortable, supportive boots are a must.

Do you think some new boots would be perfect for you or someone in your life? Head on over to the Real Farmwives of America for your chance to win!

Tony Lama provided him with the boots, but the opinions expressed are purely his own.

The Husband and His New Carhartt Coveralls

A while back, the good folks at Carhatt outfitted the Real Farmwives with Carhartt apparel from their women's line. When I got it, the husband had that poor puppy dog look on his face and may have pouted because he didn't get new Carhartts. So when I came home one day and told him he was getting a new set of coveralls, he was super excited. He has a few sets of insulated coveralls, so these new unlined denim bib overalls were a great addition to his closet.

I managed to snap a few pics when he was grabbing some straw for the ducks

And I had a great opportunity to snap a few more with my uncle...wearing matching overalls!

Struttin' Around in My New Carhartt

A few weeks back, some of the Real Farmwives and I were offered an opportunity to check out something from the Carhartt's women's line. I was super excited about the opportunity! I didn't know about the women's line (which has been around since 2006), but that's probably because I'm always buying the husband coveralls and coats and quite honestly, never thought about buying something for myself!

He was a little disappointed when I told him my Carhartt came in and he saw the pink fabric! You see, he assumed it was going to be something for him when I told him I was going to receive something for free from Carhartt. I picked a pink (Sherbet is the actual name of the color) hoodie. I absolutely love the lining of the hood! It's soft, fuzzy and warm! The jacket itself is also amazingly soft and warm!

The jacket came just in time because we had our first cold snap shortly after! I wore it to the Apple Festival

Then out to pick apples

And it was perfect for cutting up some down trees in the woods
I seem to be enjoying the chainsaw just a bit too much! Don't laugh at the little trees, he wouldn't let me cut the big ones! I don't know if he thought I was dangerous, or if he just didn't want to share his new toy.

I absolutely love this hoodie and certainly will be buying more from the Carhartt Women's line!

Made From Scratch Tuesday 10/4

On to the next Gooseberry Patch recipe! It's been a few weks, so I'd better get back to it!

Tonight, I picked a recipe from the "Can't Miss Casseroles" section. I don't make casseroles too often, but I decided to give this one a try because it sounded so easy and yummy!

I made a few changes to the recipe based on what I had on hand. Instead of 3 cans of mixed vegetables, I used a can of corn and a can of green beans. Instead of crescent rolls, I used flaky biscuits. I also substituted cream of broccoli and cream of celery for the cream of chicken. And since I'm being honest here, I used Tyson frozen, fully cooked chicken breast chunks. They're so convenient and have a great grilled taste!

To begin, I mixed up everything except the rolls in a 13x9 baking dish.

Since I was using precooked, frozen chicken, I put it in the oven at 400 for about 15 minutes, or until the chicken thawed out. Then I pulled it out and added the biscuits. Back into the oven for 18 minutes, until the biscuits browned.
It was delicious...and a total no-brainer, which was perfect for the Monday I had!

Now, it's time to link up some of those great dishes you make from scratch!
Here are the rules:
1. You can link up as many posts as you'd like.
2. My only content rule is it has to be made from scratch.
3. The post you link up MUST CONTAIN A RECIPE!
4. If you want to put my button somewhere, that'd be cool. You can grab the code for the Made From Scratch Tuesday button on the top right of my sidebar.

Roasted Hotdogs, S'mores and a Giveaway

The awesome folks at Avant Garden Decor gave us farmwives and friends the opportunity to review one of their fine products. Let me tell you, they have so many great choices, I had a really hard time deciding which product we wanted to try out. We finally decided on the Portable Fire Pit.

I chose this one for a couple of reasons:
1. Wheels. I really like the fact it's so easy to move around our porch. We can pull it right out to the middle of the porch when we need it and scoot it on over out of the way when we're done.
2. The shelf on the bottom. It's super convenient to be able to stash firewood down below. So not only can you wheel it around, but the firewood is always right there!
3. Well, I just really liked it!

Just like most things you receive in the mail, we had to put it together when it arrived. Super easy! It even came with the tools needed! Now that's my kind of company.

All that was left was to enjoy, and Labor Day weekend seemed like the perfect opportunity. Honestly, it was the first weekend it was cool enough to be comfortable around a fire!

By the way, this is what happens when you let the husband start the fire. You end up with one tiny flame in the middle and everyone is trying to cook their hotdog in the same place. Sigh. Time to put the camera down and show him how to make a real fire!

Back up boys! Let the ladies show you how it's done!

Now that's how you build a fire! Time to eat!

After a little digesting, and fire maintenance, on to the s'mores!

We like them with chocolate graham crackers!

Now it's time to just relax and spend some quality time together. And suddenly develop a shyness from the camera. Teenagers...what can you do? Even a fire pit can't solve everything!

If you would like to win a Fire Pit of your very own then head over to the Real Farmwives of America & Friends Blog and sign up for the giveaway!"

Gooseberry Patch #2 Peanut Butter Bars

For our second recipe from Gooseberry Patch, the husband picked Peanut Butter Bars.
We started out by mixing butter, sugar, brown sugar and peanut butter. Then added an egg and vanilla.
In another bowl, we mixed together flour, oats, baking soda and salt. Then we slowly mixed that into the wet mixture.
Then, press it into a 13x9 baking pan and sprinkle with peanut butter and chocolate chips.

Then we baked it for about 25 minutes....voila! So easy a husband could do it!

Want the full recipe and many others? Stay tuned as I cook my way though 10 recipes in Gooseberry Patch's "What's for Dinner?" After recipe 10, I'll be giving away a copy.
